Contact the teamWhat is Shahādah? ▾
The Shahādah is the declaration of faith that brings a person into Islam. It means believing and declaring that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad ﷺ is the Messenger of Allah.
How do I make Shahādah? ▾
You become Muslim by sincerely believing the Shahādah in your heart and saying it with your tongue. If possible, it is beneficial to say it in the presence of practising Muslims who can support and encourage you, but sincere belief and declaration are the essential requirements.
What do I say when I take my Shahādah? ▾
You say the following words sincerely, believing them in your heart:
Arabic
أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللّٰهُ وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللّٰهِ
Transliteration
Ashhadu an lā ilāha illallāh, wa ashhadu anna Muḥammadan Rasūlullāh.
English Translation
"I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship except Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah."
Don't worry if your Arabic pronunciation isn't perfect. Allah knows what is in your heart. Sincere belief is what matters most.

Do I need to know everything before becoming Muslim? ▾
No. Nobody learns Islam overnight. You enter Islam through sincere belief and the Shahādah, then continue learning throughout your life. Every Muslim begins somewhere.
I don't have a local Muslim community. Can you still help me? ▾
Yes. We provide online guidance and, where possible, can help you find trustworthy local mosques, teachers, and support networks.

Do I need to change my name after becoming Muslim? ▾
No. In most cases, changing your name is not required. If your name has a meaning that conflicts with Islamic beliefs or promotes something impermissible, you may wish to change it, but many reverts keep their existing names.
Will becoming Muslim affect my relationship with my family? ▾
Islam encourages kindness, respect, and good character towards parents and family members, even if they are not Muslim. Becoming Muslim does not mean cutting ties with your family. In fact, maintaining family relationships is highly valued in Islam.
