About the Initiative
The Amānah & Isnād Initiative
An independent initiative committed to safeguarding trust in Islamic learning through transparency, accountability, due diligence, and continuity. Founded and convened by Idris Sutcliffe van Dyk (known publicly as Idris the Revert), the Initiative draws on his own journey as a Muslim revert to address the Shahādah Gap and the wider challenges of today’s digital Islamic landscape.
We work to improve how sacred learning is accessed, trusted, and transmitted in the digital age. Through calm early-support pathways for new Muslims, research-informed due diligence, and practical frameworks for scholars and institutions, we help strengthen clarity, continuity, and confidence in Islamic learning.

Founding Charter
A governed initiative, not merely a collection of projects
The Amānah & Isnād Initiative is guided by a Founding Charter that sets out its purpose, principles, scope, values, and scholarly method. The Charter exists to ensure that this work remains accountable to the amānah of sacred knowledge, grounded in the Sunni tradition, and ordered by governance before depth, transmission before information, and principles before platforms. It clarifies what this initiative is, what it is not, and how its research, programmes, and collaborations are carried out in service of the ummah.
